Farewell

Dear Kenny Neighbors and Fans,

Three and a half years ago, my friend and neighbor of many years, Mary Brozic, came to me with this idea of a neighborhood daily photo project, a 365, and asked me to do it with her.  So began this journey.  I am forever grateful to her.  She is a gifted graphic designer and the beautiful presentation of this blog is her doing.

We launched the project with its first photo three years ago today, and yesterday posted its last.  In that time 46 photographers shared 1,100 photographs of this beautiful neighborhood we call home.  We hope you continue to enjoy our collective scrapbook.

Mary and I are so grateful to all of the photographers who have been so generous of their time and talent.  One photo usually represents far more effort than the time it takes to press the button.  We also appreciate their patience with the logistical hiccups along the way.

As I spent yesterday looking through the entire project, I was amazed all over again at the quality of the images, the creativity of the captions, and the sheer volume of their effort.  I have listed each below in order of photographs taken.  Those names with a hyperlink lead you to their ongoing creative work.  Special thanks to Sharon Wagner and Kaia Kegley, who together carried almost a third of the project.

We also thank the Kenny Neighborhood Association who enthusiastically supported this project all along, and funded its incidental expenses.

Lastly, we thank all of you who stopped by the blog, made encouraging comments on Facebook or to any of us in person.  These connections were the goal, to celebrate together this place where we live, work, love and play.

From now on, Kenny365 is yours.  We encourage you to post your own photos taken in Kenny on our Facebook page.  We only ask that you only post photos taken in Kenny, and that you respect that not everyone wants their photo taken and posted on the internet.  We reserve the right to remove any photo for any reason, but know you are great neighbors and don’t expect this to be an issue.

Thank you all for joining us on this journey.

The bitter winter is but a far and distant memory as these blossoms and their cousins grace the neighborhood.
